R.I.P. to Chris Wallace

Hard to believe it's been more than a decade already. Just like Pac, I remember exactly where I was when I got the news. R.I.P. to the legend Christopher Wallace a.k.a. Biggie Smalls/The Notorious B.I.G.
PS- If you have XM, tune into the Rhyme all day as they play is music and industry cats/friends/family recount their favorite memories.

Tryin' to Find the Rhyme

It's not easy being an un-established artist. Anybody who says different is buggin'. I am currently trying to find a reason to write rhymes, poetry, anything at this point. Truth is, life doesn't wait while I get all artistic n'shit. It doesn't work that way. Responsibilities aren't abated because I was really inspired, because the muse was upon me. But here's the problem: I need to be creative/artistic. That's my connection to God, man. That's real to me. If I haven't stepped foot in a church in the past month, but I've been writing constantly, I feel like I've still talked to God enough outside of my standard prayer time.
I do believe that God gives us all unique abilities and talents, and when we access those gifts, it's kinda like communing with God. That's why we find so much peace in what we do when it's something we were blessed/ordained to do. To not write is to feel disconnected as far as I'm concerned. I do feel, however, that I need a counterbalance to my writing. The question is not whether or not I can write a dope verse, hook, or song anymore. It's whether or not I can be artistically and financially viable at the same time. I think I'd have a better chance o doing that with a sounding board, but I don't trust a lot of people, especially artists when it comes to getting something done. Yeah, you should have your space to do your thing, but you should also be able to get shit done in a timely manner. We'll see...hoping I can collaborate with a couple of local folks sometime in the near future. I realize I don't have a name on the scene as a rhyme artist, so that would make me step my game up on the delivery side of things, which I sometimes of guilty of slacking on.
